Empty Astoria Lot To Become 80-Unit Apartment Building
An 11-story building will rise on an Astoria lot formerly home to a warehouse and a small home, according to plans filed with the city.

ASTORIA, QUEENS — An 11-story apartment building will soon rise on an empty lot in Astoria, according to new plans submitted to the city.
The building is planned for 23-81 31st St., just north of 24th Avenue, steps away from the commercial strip that includes Bohemian Hall and Mighty Oak Roasters.
The listed owner is Gandolfo DiFiore of MDM Development, who purchased the site for $8.5 million in 2017 and later demolished the warehouse, garage and two-story home that once stood there.

Containing 80 apartments, the new building will stand 125 feet tall with 9,000 square feet of commercial space on the ground floor, a community facility in the basement, and 19 parking spaces on the first floor, according to plans submitted to the Department of Buildings last week.

A portion of the apartments will be affordable, through the city's mandatory inclusionary housing program, according to the plans.
