Estée Lauder Moves Dozens Of Jobs To Queens Office: Report

The cosmetics giant is moving several IT jobs from its Melville research park to a new Long Island City office, Newsday reports.

LONG ISLAND CITY, QUEENS -- Makeup mogul Estée Lauder is shrinking its presence in Long Island and sending dozens of employees closer to its Manhattan headquarters in Long Island City.

The prestige cosmetics manufacturer will move a handful of IT jobs out of the Estée Lauder Research Park in Melville and into a new tech hub in Queens Plaza this summer, Newsday reported.

Estée Lauder's new Queens workspace will open in July in a rented space at 1 Queens Plaza North, Chief information Officer Michael Smith announced in a memo obtained by Newsday.

“Melville . . . continues to be an important business hub for our company and our local operations help drive our global growth," Smith wrote in the memo. "We are continuing to make important investments to further innovate our Melville campus, including IT workspaces.”

The move will affect less than 10 percent of Estée Lauder's Melville employees, a spokeswoman told Newsday. The workspace - which houses 1,700 employees in research and development, manufacturing and finance - makes up around 20 percent if the company's fragrance and skincare production.

Estée Lauder representatives did not immediately return Patch's request for comment.
