Failed Detergent Robber Fights Astoria Walgreens Worker, Flees
A man tried to steal laundry detergent from an Astoria Walgreens, then fled with an armed accomplice after fighting a store employee.

ASTORIA, QUEENS — A man attempted to steal two containers of laundry detergent from an Astoria Walgreens, then fled with an armed accomplice after fighting an employee who tried to stop him, according to police.
The attempted robbery unfolded about 3:30 a.m. Wednesday in a Walgreens at 47-07 Broadway, police said.
The unidentified man was walking out of the pharmacy with the laundry detergent containers when a 39-year-old employee confronted him and things turned physical, according to police.

A second man armed with a gun entered the store, threatened the employee, then fled with the would-be robber, police said.
No one was injured.

Police on Thursday released surveillance footage of a man they want to question about the attempted robbery.
