High-Tech Astoria Luxury Rental Opens Leasing For $3K Apartments

The Nordic, a Scandinavian-inspired boutique building, features just nine apartments.

ASTORIA, QUEENS -- A new Scandinavian-inspired boutique rental building in Astoria has recently opened up leasing for its luxury apartments to anyone who has an extra $3,000 to blow each month.

AKI Development - the developers behind fellow luxury rental Graffiti House - announced Thursday that they are taking applications for their latest high-end project, The Nordic, a six-story apartment building with just nine units.

The rental is being touted by developers as "the most technologically advanced residential building in Queens" because of its tech savvy amenities, which include keyless entry throughout the building, touchless-flush toilets, LED lighting, smart home automation systems and heated floors in apartments and on terraces.

Much like Graffiti House, The Nordic was heavily influenced by art. AKI partnered with famed Swedish muralist Tony ‘Rubin’ Sjöman to create oversized murals on both sides of the building and an eight-story art instillation in the elevator shaft that can be seen from a glass wall, a spokesperson for the developers said.

The Nordic features eight one-bedroom apartments and a two-bedroom penthouse. Each are equipped with 10-foot-heigh ceilings and nearly all come with their own balcony, developers said.

Residents will also have access to a landscaped roof deck with an outdoor kitchen, barbecue space, covered showers and views of Queens and Manhattan, developers said. Other amenities include a Finnish-inspired fitness and sauna center, shared bikes for residents, bicycle parking and storage spaces.

Prices to live in the dream building start at a whopping $2,995 per month, and developers expect move-ins to begin in September.
