ASTORIA, QUEENS — A box truck driver hit a man crossing the street in Astoria early Saturday, then fled the scene, according to police and a news report.

The 53-year-old man was crossing the intersection of 30th Avenue and 14th Street about 2:30 a.m. when the driver started turning onto 14th Street and crashed into him, then hit another car, an NYPD spokesperson said.

The driver, who was in a white box truck, raced off, according to CBS New York.

EMS rushed the pedestrian to Elmhurst Hospital to treat cuts to his head and face, police said.
