LIC Subway Stations To Complete Storm, ADA Upgrades By 2024
MTA will complete storm improvements at Hunters Point Ave station and ADA upgrades at Queensboro Plaza station by September 2024.

LONG ISLAND CITY, QUEENS — Two subway stations in Long Island City will get upgrades and improvements to make the stops more accessible for people with disabilities and more resistant to storms, according to Council Member Julie Won.
MTA will complete storm improvements at Hunters Point Ave station and ADA upgrades at Queensboro Plaza station over the next two years, Won said.
Hunters Point Ave will install a flood door at the east end of the station, where the 7 line runs, to protect the station and the Steinway tube from coastal storms.

No service interruptions are scheduled for the upgrades at this station.
The station at Queensboro Plaza will get new elevators, an ADA ramp on the mezzanine, modified pedestrian bridges, and ADA boarding areas with new platform edges.

The improvements will cause 10 weekend closures at this station, where the 7 and N lines run, between September 2022 and September 2024.
Eight weekend suspensions of the 7 line service between Queensboro Plaza and 34 St-Hudson Yards station will also occur within this timeline.
