Long Island City High School Evacuated After Possible Bomb Threat
Long Island City High School evacuated for three hours Wednesday due to a bomb threat, authorities said. Police found no explosives.

ASTORIA, QUEENS — Long Island City High School was evacuated for three hours Wednesday after a man called the school saying there was a bomb inside, authorities said.
A sweep of the high school by the NYPD's emergency services unit found no explosives, a police spokesman said. The evacuation ended about 1:30 p.m. and everyone is safe, police said.
Officers from the NYPD's strategic response group and counterterrorism unit assisted in the investigation, a police source told Patch.

The evacuation of the school at 14-30 Broadway happened just before 11 a.m., according to social media reports.

Broadway was closed to traffic and pedestrians between 21st and 12th Streets in Astoria while police investigated. A portion of 14th Street just north of Broadway was also closed.
