New Astoria Apartment Building To Replace Wood-Frame House
A modest wood-frame Astoria home built in the 1940s is set to be bulldozed for a seven-story apartment building, new plans show.

ASTORIA, QUEENS — Another modest Astoria home is set to be bulldozed and replaced with a multi-story apartment building, according to newly filed plans.
Developer Robert Cerrone of Park Construction Corp. filed plans last week to demolish the two-story house at 25-23 Newtown Ave., and replace it with a seven-story building with 27 apartments, city records show.
The existing home has stood since 1940 between Crescent and 28th streets, containing two apartments. The Long Island-based developers paid $4.8 million to acquire it in September, according to sale documents.

A real estate listing for the property described it as "ideal for residential or community facility development," given its zoning and proximity to the Astoria Boulevard subway station, RFK Bridge, and Grand Central Parkway.
The new building will stand 70 feet tall and be entirely residential, though it will also include 16 parking spaces, according to the new plans.
