New MoMA PS1 Restaurant Mina's Now Open

MoMA PS1's new restaurant, Mina's, finally opened last week. It replaces the museum's M. Wells Dinette, which closed in March.

LONG ISLAND CITY, QUEENS — MoMA PS1's new restaurant, Mina's, finally opened last week, several months later than anticipated. The restaurant replaces the museum's M. Wells Dinette, which closed in March.

Chef Mina Stone is drawing on her Greek heritage for the new restaurant, which will offer Mediterranean-inspired cuisine using seasonal ingredients. Diners will be able to eat at Mina's without paying museum admission, according to its website.

The restaurant opened to the public Nov. 14, months later than the April opening date first announced.

Menu items include a yellow lentil soup and mezzethaki, a variety of snacks traditionally served with the Greek liquor ouzo, according to Stone.

Stone has built her career cooking for galleries and artists, starting 15 years ago when she cooked at the art gallery Gavin Brown's Enterprise, she said in a MoMA interview.

"Like any great art form, food has the power to transport you," Stone said in a statement when the restaurant was announced. "Mina's will be a complement to the creative atmosphere of the museum, adapting traditional recipes to the modern palate with our signature style of cooking that is effortless, healthy, authentic, and approachable."
