LONG ISLAND CITY, QUEENS — A street in Long Island City will become pedestrian-only under a new revamp by the NYC Department of Transportation.

The project on 12th Street between 44th Avenue and 43rd Road will add public seating that can be used for community events and close the street to traffic, including parking.

Construction begins this month and should be complete by the end of July, according to a DOT spokesperson. The spokesperson did not address a question on the cost of the project.
