Queens Taekwondo Teacher Charged With Raping 12-Year-Old Student

A taekwondo teacher in Queens has been charged with raping a 12-year-old girl taking lessons at his studio, prosecutors said.

SUNNYSIDE, QUEENS — A martial arts teacher in Queens has been charged with raping a 12-year-old girl taking lessons at his taekwondo studio, prosecutors said Wednesday.

Woodside resident Hector Quinchi, 36, stands accused of fondling and sexually assaulting the girl multiple times over the last two months at Hugo's Taekwondo Studio on Skillman Avenue in Sunnyside, according to prosecutors.

Quinchi is a "master instructor" at the taekwondo studio, which also has locations in Ridgewood and Bushwick, according to its website.

The studio's owner did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

"The parents of this youngster trusted the defendant to teach the girl how to defend herself," Acting Queens District Attorney John M. Ryan said.

If convicted, Quinchi faces a sentence of up to 25 years in prison.
