SculptureCenter In Long Island City Names New Director

LONG ISLAND CITY, QUEENS — SculptureCenter in Long Island City has a new director.
Museum of Modern Art associate curator Christian Rattemeyer will lead the contemporary art museum beginning November 1, according to news reports.
In his current role in MoMA's department of drawings and prints, Rattemeyer is helping organize the exhibition "'SURROUNDS: 11' Installations" to christen the museum's expansion opening later this year, according to ArtForum.

SculptureCenter board chair Andreas Beroutsos told ArtForum: "Christian's deep and geographically broad roots in art history and contemporary art, his curatorial record of creative and insightful choices as well as insatiable interest into artistic innovation ... made Christian the logical choice to lead SculptureCenter into the future."
Former SculptureCenter director Mary Ceruti stepped down in November to helm the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, according to ArtForum.
