Van Bramer Calls For Crackdown On Illegal Parking In LIC
City Council Member Jimmy Van Bramer is calling on police to crack down on illegal parking on the sidewalks and streets of Long Island City.

LONG ISLAND CITY, QUEENS — City Council Member Jimmy Van Bramer is calling on police to crack down on illegal parking on the sidewalks and streets of Long Island City, which has long been a sore subject for residents.
The Western Queens representative called the 108th police precinct in Long Island City "the epicenter of rampant illegally parked cars on the sidewalk and in the street" in a July 3 letter to NYPD Commissioner James O'Neill.
Van Bramer listed the 11 "worst" locations for parking on sidewalks, including a stretch of Borden Avenue and the area around the 108th police precinct station itself.

Illegal parking on our sidewalks & in our bike lanes is out of control in the @NYPD108Pct. I’m calling on @NYPDONeill to get involved here & enforce an immediate crackdown on drivers who continue to disregard the law & endanger our community. pic.twitter.com/46IfDSXDXm

"The precinct is overrun with illegally parked cars whose owners have no concern or respect for the law or residents of the community," Van Bramer wrote.
Queens residents have long used social media to document cars parked on Long Island City sidewalks.
