Woman Found Mysteriously Dead In Steinway Street Building: NYPD

A 28-year-old woman was found dead with gashes in her chest Thursday afternoon in Astoria, according to police.

ASTORIA, QUEENS — A 28-year-old woman was found dead with gashes in her chest Thursday afternoon in Astoria, according to police.

Police found the woman in a second-floor bedroom by Steinway Street and 25th Avenue about 1:30 p.m., after getting a 911 call of a foul odor coming from the room where her body was, an NYPD spokesperson said.

First responders pronounced the woman dead. Authorities have not released her name.

NYPD investigators have classified her death as suspicious, according to a department spokesperson.

There were no indications of a break-in, the spokesperson added.
