Alley Pond School In Queens To Get 440-Seat Expansion
The city is adding hundreds of seats to the Alley Pond School in Oakland Gardens.

OAKLAND GARDENS, QUEENS — The city is adding hundreds of seats to the Alley Pond School in Queens.
The Oakland Gardens elementary school, also known as P.S. 46, will get a 440-seat expansion ahead of the 2022-2023 school year, according to the city's School Construction Authority.
The $50 million project will enable to school to nearly double its current enrollment of 543 students, the Queens Chronicle reported.

It will include 18 classrooms for students in preschool through fifth grade, as well as a reading/speech resource room, science room, library, computer lab, kitchen complex and art and music classrooms, according to School Construction Authority communications manager Kevin Ortiz. There will also be administrative, medical and guidance suites.
"We are very excited for this new addition and the opportunities this expansion will afford our school community," Principal Stamo Karalazarides told the Queens Chronicle.

It is scheduled to open in September 2022.
