Bayside High School Locked Down After Unfounded Report Of Gun
Police say they deemed the reports inaccurate and that there's no active shooter or firearm situation at the Bayside school.

BAYSIDE, QUEENS — Bayside High School was briefly put on lockdown midday Thursday following reports of someone with a gun, which police said were unfounded.
The lockdown was lifted about 1 p.m. after police determined there was no active shooter situation and no firearm, according to NYPD social media posts.
School officials, parents and students can expect to see an increased police presence at the school.

The lockdown at Bayside HS has been lifted. It was based on inaccurate reports. There are no threats at the school.

Videos posted to the Citizen app just before 1 p.m. show students at the Queens school sitting on the floor waiting for the lockdown to be lifted.

In one video posted to the app, a student shows a Snapchat post of someone holding what appears to be a gun, tagged with the location of the school. Police haven't confirmed whether the Snapchat post was what prompted the lockdown.
