Bayside Historical Society Launches Archival Exhibit Series

The Bayside Historical Society is launching a series of exhibits called "From the Archives," starting with a show on the Bayside Yacht Club.

BAYSIDE, QUEENS — The Bayside Historical Society is launching a series of exhibits called "From the Archives" to showcase the 10,000-plus historical artifacts, documents and photographs in its collection.

The series begins Thursday with an exhibit showcasing the history of the Bayside Yacht Club.

Highlights will include trophies, plaques, log books, a ship model, a ship wheel and a history wall of photographs from the club's beginning to its last days.

The historical society's archival collection for the Bayside Yacht Club is one of its largest, according to executive director Laura James.

The Bayside Historical Society is located at the Castle in Bayside's Fort Totten Park. It is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays and from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturdays. Other days and times are available by appointment.
