Bayside Man Accused of Attempting $1.6 Million Rip Off
Kook Hee Nam, a.k.a., David Nam, allegedly pretended to hold authority to sell three midtown buildings.

A Bayside man is accused of swindling a deep-pocketed mark out of $1.6 million.
Kook Hee Nam of 57th Rd., a.k.a., David Nam, allegedly defrauded a potential buyer of three Midtown buildings, pretending to be authorized to accept a down payment.
Nam allegedly initiated contact with complainant Jae Kun Jeung in 2009, offering to sell the three buildings, located at 365, 367 and 369 Seventh Avenue, for a total of $6.5 million, according to District Attorney Richard Brown.

Jeung asked to see proof that Nam held authority to sell the buildings. Nam allegedly provided a forged document, with a signature he passed off as belonging to the actual owner, Nan Su Kim.
"This alleged con game should serve as a warning that all property transactions must be carefully vetted,” said District Attorney adding, “particularly when they involve such large amounts of money.”
