Bayside Man Wins $226K In World Series Of Poker Tournament

A Bayside resident beat out more than 2,000 players to win a World Series of Poker championship title.

BAYSIDE, QUEENS — A Bayside resident beat out more than 2,000 players to win a World Series of Poker championship.

Daniel Park, 38, won $226,245 and his first WSOP gold bracelet in the poker championship's No-Limit Hold'em Super Turbo Bounty event. It was one of the quickest tournaments of the series, according to Poker News.

"I can't believe it right now, it's just so surreal," Park told Poker News. "I don't know what to say to tell you the truth. I was just happy to be at the final table. I didn't expect to be in first place, but I'm so glad. It worked out in my favor."

Park went up against 2,452 competitors in the daylong event, which started Tuesday morning and ended about 4 a.m. on Wednesday.
