BAYSIDE, QUEENS — He's goin' to Miami.

Bayside police officers caught another package pilferer last week, only to find he was also wanted in Miami for a felony theft charge, a spokesperson told Patch.

Police arrested Bayside resident Nayid Melo on Sept. 11 after he was caught snatching a package from a front porch in the neighborhood, according to NYPD spokesperson Det. Sophia Mason.

A neighbor had called the cops after she saw Melo, 28, swiping boxes from porches by 209th Street and 35th Avenue and confronted him, QNS.com reported following the arrest.

Officers charged Melo with petit larceny, trespassing and criminal possession of stolen property.

They also charged Melo with drug possession after finding two syringes and two Ziploc bags with an "unknown" drug residue on him, the spokesperson said.

Once Melo was in custody, officers discovered he was wanted in Miami for grand theft, a felony, and extradited him to the Sunshine State.

The Bayside police precinct has seen a series of package thefts in the last few months.

Cops in April arrested two such thieves for stealing packages and have reported similar thefts in May and in July, according to social media posts.
