BAYSIDE, QUEENS — A Bayside intersection debuted a new name after Chief Howard Haider, who served in the military for four decades and was commander of the American Legion Bayside Post 510.

The new "CW5 Howard C. Haider Way" at the intersection of 207th Street and Northern Boulevard, unveiled in a co-naming ceremony Tuesday, honors Haider's lifetime of service to his Queens community and his legacy as the first to achieve the rank of Chief Warrant Officer Five in the state.
