Not too long before the first Thanksgiving was celebrated, King Henry VIII on the other side of the pond would enjoy big poultry dinners himself during Christmastide.
There were a few differences between those meals, and ours. For one, the Tudors were partial to Peacock. They would be brought to the table, feathers and all, for the royals to enjoy. The birds' skin would come off, and be cured, before being decoratively re-applied, with the plucked feathers sticking up, according to localhistories.org.
During today's times, in Bayside, that would be considered pretty distasteful. But if you love feathers, and want to do something different this year for an elegant, olde tyme touch, we have a different suggestion:

Calla Lilies (or other white flowers)- Available at , or
Directions:
Place 6-10 long stem flowers in a vase with 3-10 long peacock feathers. Intersperse the feathers within the flowers. Place on the dining table, and enjoy.
