Car Bursts Into Flames On Clearview Expressway; FDNY Investigates

Videos show plumes of smoke and fire coming from the car, which was ablaze on the shoulder of the highway on Wednesday afternoon.

BAYSIDE, QUEENS — A car burst into flames on Bayside's Clearview Expressway this week, in an incident that is still under investigation by the Fire Department.

Shortly after 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 29th, fire officials started getting reports of a car that was on fire on the Clearview Expressway near Exit 5, in between 35th Avenue and Northern Boulevard.

When firefighters got to the highway they found a car ablaze on the southbound shoulder of the road. Videos show plumes of smoke and fire coming out of the entire vehicle.

Officials did not say how long it took them to get the fire under control, but mentioned that no one was hurt in the blaze.

The FDNY also said that the cause of the fire remains under investigation, and hasn't been determined as of Thursday, Dec. 30th.

This is the second traffic-stopping incident on the Clearview Expressway in the past week, following a fatal collision on the highway last Friday.
