Family Accused of Enslaving Korean Immigrant in Northeast Queens
Oak-Jin Oh said she was trapped with the family for more than 12 years without pay.

A 60-year-old Korean immigrant has filed a lawsuit against a northeast Queens family, saying they forced her to work without pay as a housekeeper in the family's various Queens homes - including one in Little Neck - for more than 12 years, the TimesLedger reports.
Oak-Jin Oh claims that she was initially hired as a domestic worker for Soo Bok Choi, a U.S. citizen and Buddhist monk. She was told she would work for a monthly wage of 1.3 million Korean won, or around $1,200 – but after 12 years of service, Oh said the money never materialized.
In addition to not being paid, Oh also claims she was forced to work grueling hours, and was threatened with violence if she attempted to escape.
