Feb. 18: Wishing Every Day In February Could Be Like This

It should be a glorious Friday out there, Little Neck. Temperatures forecast to hit a balmy 62 degrees has us thinking that more than a few workers might try to play hooky today, opting for a stroll in the park or a patio chair in the backyard to the daily grind.

However, work continues for the most of us. Word to the wise, though: try to avoid the crush of cars and midday train commuters making their way home to take advantage of the mild weather this afternoon.

1. Queens DA Richard Brown yesterday charged a graffiti purveyor using the tag, ‘GEAR,’ with 42 counts of defacing bus shelters throughout the borough. The man, Alexander Thompson of Brooklyn, caused $5,100 in damage, according to the Queens DA.

2. Mets owner Fred Wilpon at yesterday’s press conference on charges he had knowledge of Bernard Madoff’s gigantic Ponzi scheme: "I want to put an end to it. That's why I brought it up. I'm not hiding from anything."
