Final Free Pop-Up Food Pantry Coming To Douglaston Church Sunday
The hour long food giveaway, which kicks off at 1 p.m., comes as millions of New Yorkers struggle with food insecurity amid the pandemic.
DOUGLASTON, QUEENS — A pop up food pantry is coming to the Community Church of Douglaston this weekend.
The free food giveaway, organized by the Douglaston Local Development Corporation, will be held at 39-50 Douglaston Parkway from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 12.
The group's effort to help distribute food comes as millions of New Yorkers struggle to put food on their tables amid the pandemic, which exacerbated the city's hunger crisis according to reports.

There are no listed requirements to participate in the giveaway, other than showing up. All of the food will be given away for free, without any donation or repayment needed.
In the spirit of "neighbors helping neighbors," the Douglaston Local Development Corporation is organizing the pop-up pantry with the help of other community partners, including the Community Church of Douglaston, the city's Department of Youth and Community Development, La Jornada food pantry, and local City Council Member Paul Vallone.

After a summer of pop-up pantries, this is the final giveaway at the Douglaston Community Church.
The Douglaston Local Development Corporation, however, is bringing its food giveaway efforts to the neighborhood one final time on Sept. 26, when the group will host a food giveaway at the Zion Episcopal Church.
