BAYSIDE, QUEENS — A former veterinary practice is among three Bayside buildings that are slated for demolition in order to build housing.

An application to tear down the buildings — addressed as 204-16, 204-18, and 204-20 46th Avenue — was filed with the Department of Buildings on Dec. 30th.

Bayside Veterinary Center, a practice that was based out of 204-18 46th Avenue for over a decade, is among the buildings facing the wrecking ball.

The plan is still under examination, and no permits have been filed for a new building yet, records show as of Jan. 10th.

Jinfar Liu — who is listed as the person overseeing the demolition — however, told Patch that there's a plan to build three duplex homes in the lot after the teardown.

The buildings on the site, near the corner of 46th Avenue and Clearview Expressway, are currently classified for health and hospital use (hence the former veterinary clinic), but after the demolition housing will be built on the lot, he told Patch over the phone on Monday.

Liu said that demolition should begin in about a month, once permits are approved.

Bayside Veterinary Center is not leaving the area entirely, though.

Dr. Kaye, who ran the business, is now working at The Pet Doctor, an employee confirmed with Patch. That veterinary practice is located in nearby Flushing, at 2562 Francis Lewis Boulevard.
