Israel to Host Alzheimer's Informational Event on June 21 in Bayside

Attendees will be able to hear about local programs for those with the disease as well as their families.

U.S. Rep. Steve Israel, D-Great Neck, will host an informational event on Alzheimer’s disease this afternoon in Bayside.

The congressman will be joined by Alzheimer’s experts at Bayside’s Selfhelp Clearview Senior Center, located at 208-11 26th Ave., for the event, which runs from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

The discussion at the event will revolve around current issues and helpful local programs for people with Alzheimer’s as well as their caregivers, family and friends.

New approaches to dealing with Alzheimer’s can ease the burden on individuals with the disease, their loved ones and those who take care of them, Isarel said.

Services offered in the community include brain fitness classes, finding affordable care, social activities and transportation, health assessments, social adult day care and referrals.
