Football playoff madness, a "Day At The Museum" and what's "not cooking" at the area's newest eatery

Happy weekend, Little Neck! It's cold out there. And with the threat of more winter weather early next week, many might already be dreaming of a more-forgiving spring.

But there is a silver lining to this time in January: the extra time given to all Americans, regardless of religion, race or creed, to reflect on the life of Martin Luther King, Jr.

Here are a few of the highlights for the long weekend ahead at Little Neck Patch:

1. Honor the life and legacy of a great American at St Paul AME Church in Great Neck . during an Interfaith Celebration featuring guest speaker New York State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli.

2. Would you like to help us care for Alley Pond Environmental Center's animals? This program, ,  teaches children about the interesting job of an animal caretaker.

3. Wondering what's cooking on at the former Seville Diner location on Northern Boulevard in Douglaston? Or in this case, not cooking? Later today,  features a review on Mizumi, the area's newest sushi and seafood buffet.

4. The Nassau County Museum of Art holds "Family Sunday," which includes a docent-led tour of the collection starting tomorrow at . The museum is located at 1 Museum Drive in Roslyn.

5. Jets football fans will be crowding around TV sets throughout our area as Gang Green takes on the New England Patriots on Sunday's Divisional playoffs. Watch out Sunday morning for a list of places to watch the big game with your fellow residents. We'll also be pulling up a bar stool to follow the reaction of fans later on the big day.
