Jan. 31: Winter Storm Watch

It wouldn't be a Monday in January if it didn't come accompanied by a Winter Storm Watch, in effect from Tuesday morning to Wednesday evening.

Not good.

Here's the rest of what you need to know for today, Little Neck:

1. A large winter storm barreling through the Midwest looks to be heading our way. Forecasters predict 2 to 5 inches of snow by mid-week.

2. As the next snowstorm approaches, the city has suspended alternate side parking for another day. And perhaps in a nod to the height of those curbside snow banks, parking meter rules are also suspended.

3. The City Council scheduled a meeting on Wednesday to discuss Walmart's plans to expand into the NYC market. Citing polls of city residents , Walmart recently announced it would boycott the meeting.

4. Later today, look for our story on yesterday's District  of state Sen. , D-Whitestone, at Queensborough Community College.
