Queens Realtor Launches YouTube channel for Homeowners

As the Spring, 2022 housing market is off to a strong start, local real estate broker Mark Karten has been flooded with questions from homeowners across Queens.

“For as long as I can remember, people would always seek me out for advice,” says Karten. “Nowadays, so many people would rather Google their questions, which can be hit or miss, at best.”

“Housing prices in Queens, for the last year or so, seem to have no ceiling – or do they? That’s what I’m asked all the time, which gave me the idea for a weekly video series.”

Karten, owner of Karten Real Estate Services, headquartered in Bayside, Queens, created a YouTube channel devoted to questions and answers to help potential sellers get a local perspective, rather than generic answers that don’t pertain to the Queens, New York housing market.

He says, “It’s confusing to read the headlines about low inventory of homes and you list your home for sale, expecting lots of offers. When your listing expires after six months, you’re frustrated, disappointed and usually blame the agent. I wanted to explain what really happened.”

Karten continues, “It’s important to manage client’s expectations, so every week I talk about a different aspect of the sales process, focused on the types of homes sold in Queens, to shed some light on the complexity of today’s market.”

“Ultimately, there’s no substitute for a personal conversation regarding your home specifically. The videos are merely an introduction to how I communicate – with authenticity and transparency.”

“Am I always politically correct? Hardly,” Karten laughs. “My motto is, ‘You can handle the truth,’ and I’m told my message resonates with my viewers.”

“My first topic was ‘12 Tips on How to Sell Your Home for Top Dollar in 2022.’ I worked with a production company, and it looks great, but the whole process took too long. Now I release a new video every weekend and I think they’re more down-to-earth and natural. So far, I’ve spoken about the timeline for selling your home, how’s the market, what a ‘Coming Soon” listing is, how much is your home worth, and my favorite, ‘What is a Boutique Brokerage?’”
