Austin Shafran has raised the most money in the City Council race, according to campaign finance record updates on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, Bayside Douglaston Patch posted a piece on fundraising efforts for candidates in the race for Councilman Dan Halloran’s seat.
The city’s campaign finance records were updated the following day, so we are providing an update on the financial state of the race.
Austin Shafran, who is the former vice president of Empire State Development, has currently raise the most funds in the race with $82,217.
Attorney Paul Vallone, who is the brother of Councilman Peter Vallone Jr., has brought in $73,470 in donations.
Former state Assemblyman John Duane is right behind him with $72,065 in donations.
Paul Graziano, a long-time community activist and urban planning consultant, has raised $19,493, while Douglaston attorney Dennis Saffran has a total $15,100.
Chrissy Voskerichian, who was Halloran’s former chief of staff, has raised $11,060.
Rudy S. Giuliani, a cousin of the former mayor who has been mentioned as a potential candidate in the race, is currently not listed in city campaign finance records.
Halloran recently announced that he would not run for reelectionfollowing his arrest in an alleged bribery scheme to get state Sen. Malcolm Smith, a Democrat, on the Republican mayoral ballot. Halloran is also facing questions as to whether he allegedly had romantic relationships with two former staff members.
