Vallone, Duane Pick Up Endorsements in Council Bids
Candidates receive nods from local groups in race for Halloran's seat
Flushing attorney Paul Vallone and former state Assemblyman John Duane have nabbed recent endorsements in the race for Councilman Dan Halloran's seat.
Vallone received the nod from the Doctors Council SEIU, a professional organization for doctors.
"Paul is an effective community leader and strongly believes in giving every constituent access to quality health services," said Barry Liebowitz, president of the council.
Duane was endorsed by District Council 37, the Brooklyn-Queens chapter of the National Organization for Women, Stonewall Democratic Club, Theatrical Stage Employees Local One, Associated Musicians of Greater New York Local 802 and Jim Owles Liberal Democratic Club.
"Like our members, John will work hard everyday to serve out community and help make New York stronger," said Lillian Roberts, executive director for District Council 37.
Vallone and Duane will face off in the Democratic primary against community activist Paul Graziano, former Halloran chief of staff Chrissy Voskerichian and Austn Shafran, formerly of Empire State Development.
