Winter Weather Wreaks Havoc On Morning, Evening Commute
Residents express hopes for a kindler, gentler Old Man Winter

Whether Little Neck residents drove, walked or biked their way to work today, two words seemed to be at the tip every commuter's tongue: winter fatigue.
And though today's icy weather was no , most people traveling along the lanes, byways and highways around the neighborhood said they longed for a much-needed break from Old Man Winter.
"I've absolutely had it," said Dennis Martinez, making his way through about four inches of slush near Little Neck Long Island Railroad station this afternoon. "Even with my boots on, it's hard not to get a little wet in all this."

With 4.6 inches falling from this most recent storm as of 4:30 p.m., the city declared a Weather Emergency, urging drivers to stay off the roads and allowing the towing of vehicles blocking area thoroughfares.
In total, the National Weather Service predicted 8 to 12 inches of the white stuff by the time the storm wraps up early Thursday.
If the forecasts for this most recent winter storm holds, accumulations will significantly add to the average of 36 inches falling so far this season across the five boroughs.
"I keep thinking, 'Think Spring,'" said one resident, shoveling in front of his house on Douglaston Parkway. "But nothing's happening."
