- Yesterday marked six months since the May 14th Mass Shooting. In remembrance, flags were flown at half-staff at government buildings and many city landmarks were illuminated orange to signify gun violence prevention. Additionally, residents were encourages to pause for moments of reflection at 2:30 P.M., and church bells rang thirteen times during the afternoon to remember the ten murdered and three injured. - As of 1:30 A.M. this morning, winter parking regulations in the city have taken effect overnight. Along all bus routes in Buffalo, parking is now prohibited from 1:30 A.M. until 7:00 A.M. until April 1st. Read more at WGRZ 2.
- Canisius College officially adopts test-free admissions after the policy was initially placed out of necessity earlier in the pandemic. This makes the college the first in the region to discard SAT and ACT scores in their application process. Since this rule was first implemented earlier in the pandemic, admissions increased by 18% and students of color increased from 37% to 44%. To know more, read The Buffalo News.
- The Chief Medical Officer at Oishei offers advice among the rising cases of RSV and the flu. If your child is ill, he advises, make sure they are drinking water. Staying hydrated is far more important than eating with this illness. Furthermore, if their ribs are retracting, that could be a sign they need oxygen support. In terms of preventing, as always wearing masks helps prevent the spread of illness, as does washing hands, staying up to date on vaccines, avoiding large crowds, and staying home when sick. - In uplifting news, a North Tonawanda veteran was honored at the Bills game this past weekend. Bill Gosch was given free tickets to his first ever game by Buffalo Niagara Honor Flight in thanks to serving in the second World War. To watch a clip and read more, check out WIVB 4.
