- A Buffalo man has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for manslaughter following a March 2020 shooting. Josean Roman-Cruz, 39, was sentenced for the fatal shooting of
Wilfredo Justiniano, 50. Roman-Cruz received the maximum sentence and will also have five years of post-release supervision. (WIVB.com - News 4) - A woman is in critical condition after a shooting on Kent Street in Buffalo. Just after 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, a 27-year-old woman was shot inside her vehicle. When she arrived at ECMC, she was listed in critical condition. Anyone with information is encouraged to call or text the confidential tip line at (716) 847-2255. (WKBW 7 News Buffalo)
- The Michigan Street African American Heritage Corridor Commission has received a $50,000 grant from the African American Cultural Heritage Action Fund. Terry Alford, MSAAHCC's Executive Director, said, “This funding will allow us to move forward with the creation of [a] MSAAHCC Headquarters and Visitor Center with a Michigan Street Black-Owned Business Incubator Program, which was a key project identified in our Strategic Plan formally presented to the community this past February.” The AACHAF awarded $3 million to 33 organizations this year, which all focused on "historic sites tied to Black arts, culture, civic engagement, entrepreneurship, sports, medicine, education, religion, and social justice."
