Here are the top five stories in Buffalo today:

  1. "Beetlejuice," the musical based on the Tim Burton movie, is at Shea's this weekend. The musical comedy runs for about two hours and 30 minutes with five remaining shows across Friday, Saturday and Sunday. (Buffalo Rising)
  2. Rochester and Syracuse have citizen review boards to increase police accountability, but Buffalo has yet to establish one. A review board was one of the main local requests during the 2020 protests. Some of the blockage is coming from Common Council's concerns about finding truly neutral people to place on the board, without biases for or against policing. (The Buffalo News)
  3. The Small Business Organization has lengthened WNY blizzard loan outreach at the Delavan Grider Center. While it was originally expected to close this week, it will now be open until the end of the month. Public affairs specialist Jim Accurso says, "We encourage folks to come in. We are going to be here six days a week, 9:30 in the morning until 6 at night Monday through Friday and 10 until 2 on Saturday." (Spectrum News)
  4. To celebrate a century of business, All Services WNY is making a documentary about Chef's Restaurant. The documentary, which will showcase the history of the restaurant, will premier at North Park Theater in September. All proceeds will be donated to Joe White, who made news after being rescued by Sha’Kyra Aughtry in the 2022 blizzard. (Niagara Frontier Publications)
  5. Andrew Halbert, 33, has been arrested in relation to cocaine sales. He is being charged with criminal possession of more than eight ounces of narcotics and criminal possession of a narcotic with intent to sell. These are Class A and Class B felonies, respectively. (The Buffalo News)
