  1. Buffalo State College President Katherine Conway-Turner announced she has appointed LeVar Nathaniel Burke as the next chief of staff in the President’s Office. Burke will join the Buffalo State community on Aug. 22 and recently served as enrollment manager for strategic initiatives at the City University of New York (CUNY) Medgar Evers College. Conway-Turner said, “Mr. Burke has 17 years of experience in supporting critical and strategic college efforts, including managing confidential matters, implementing enrollment strategies, and advancing cross-divisional endeavors to accomplish campus priorities.” (Press Release Desk)
  2. A Buffalo man has been sentenced for an illegal gun and possession of fentanyl. Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announced that Angel L. White was sentenced to 1-2 years in prison for illegal gun, possession, and intent to sell fentanyl. White was the front seat passenger in a vehicle during a traffic stop in October 2020, when officers found a satchel in the front passenger seat that contained a loaded and illegal revolver, nearly 100 grams of fentanyl, and approximately $5000 in cash.   3. The severe thunderstorm warning issued for portions of Genesee and Erie County has been canceled. Wednesday was the second day of strong storms across Western New York. The warnings cautioned local residents about 60 mph wind gusts and quarter-size hail. (WGRZ.com)
