  1. Buffalo is currently correcting the lack of an Amercians with Disabilities Act Advocate in the city government. Under title two of the Americans with Disabilities Act, all local governments must have an ADA coordinator, which Buffalo does not. Buffalo's Independent Living Center Policy Chief Todd Vaarwerk discusses Buffalo's lack of a coordinator, saying "It shouldn't have taken this long. We recognize the fact that it did now we're trying and we're looking forward but we always want to make sure this never happens again." Read more in Krizia Willaims' article at WKBW 7.
  2. Career & Technical Education has been implemented in multiple Buffalo Public Schools with hopes to improve statistics about how many local high school students enjoy learning. The program allows students to learn specific trade-related topics throughout high school, preparing them for life after school in a related higher education. The program also gives students a better opportunity to directly enter the workforce after graduation, should they choose to. The option is now offered at thirteen district high schools. 3. After a petition to conserve and protect the Great Northern Grain Elevator was denied, demolition is set to occur. The judge on the case said there was not enough evidence towards protecting the building. According to city officials, demolition could take up to eight months. Visit Spectrum Local News to find out more.
  4. After being connected to a 1978 fatal stabbing, 63-year-old John M. Sauberan of Buffalo has been sentenced for second degree murder. DNA from the crime scene was connected to Sauberan after he was uploaded to a national database for a felony convicted in Oregon. For more information, check out WKBW 7.
  5. Last month's historic lake effect snowstorm cost the city close to a million dollars on snow removal efforts. The total $978,850 spent on private contractors was $718,000 over the allotted amount for subcontractors in the 2022-2022 winter budget. The mayor, city compeller, and the city council are looking at plans to redistribute money from city buildings, streets, and health insurance to cover the deficit.
