- In response to the regional, national, and international climate events this year, Erie County is developing a Community Climate Action Plan. An Erie County Climate Showcase will occur at D’Youville on March 18 for concerned residents and those working with a business or organization that could help with developing the plan. - Currently, of 160 workers in the Sheriff's Office, there is one Black male and no Black women, Hispanic men, or Hispanic women workers. The sheriff’s office is hoping to recruit more diverse individuals and held a forum on Friday to address the need. (WKBW 7)
- That Brown Bag Minority Business Directory, a directory of Black and Brown-owned local businesses, includes nearly 500 businesses and has consistently been expanded since 2018. Shantelle Patton, who created and updates the directory, sees it as a community-need and cites that most minority businesses fail within their first five years, often due to lack of exposure. - Road Less Traveled Productions' performance of “The Thin Place” runs until the end of March. Theater critic, Michael Rabice, says the play's ending leaves you with more questions than answers in this successful and ghostly story. Broadway World Buffalo)
- Cheektowaga's Walden Fire District encountered a structure fire on Monday. The fire presumably started from an unattached garage on Dale Road right behind the T-Mobile on Walden Avenue. The cause of fire remains undetermined. (WIVB 4)
