Here are the top stories today in Buffalo:

1. Erie County's proposed 2023 budget has been released. The new plan increases salaries for the Erie County Sheriff's top 13 administrative chiefs, allocates $2.4 million to "urban initiatives," and changes the language used to discuss Covid-19, among other things. The proposal goes for final approval this upcoming Thursday. Read more details at The Buffalo News.
2. The Buffalo Teachers Federation is circulating a survey asking for a vote of no confidence in new Superintendent Tonja Williams. Since she became superintendent, Buffalo teachers have yet to receive a new contract, meaning they have been working without one for three years. After both sides meeting on Monday, the union remains without a contract for various limitations, such as budget and bureaucracy. Read more at WIVB 4.
3. Due to an anonymous gift and a couple of grants, The Black Rock Riverside Alliance in the North District has acquired a new historic building on Amherst St. The building will become an incubator for nonprofit start-ups and small businesses, as well as an important community meeting space for existing programs such as Buffalo Niagara River Land Trust, Believe in Black Rock block club, and the Black Rock business association. 4. Beds for Kidz, a program started in 2019 when a social worker at Mount St. Mary's Neighborhood Health Center noticed how many children she worked with slept on floors, towels, or chairs, has recently surpassed its 225th bed package donation.
