- William B. Henley, a 57-year-old man who was arraigned in city court for weapon, died in the Erie County Holding Center this past weekend. William B. Henley is a relative of Willie Henley, who Buffalo police shot in 2020. While officials are not willing to offer many details, on average an Erie County inmate dies once every six months. - Through a round table conversation hosted by The Buffalo History Museum on Tuesday, high school girls were able to have empowering conversations with political leaders. Karen King, the Executive Director of the Erie County Commission on Women, comments, "It is eminently important that women and young girls have the seat at the table. - With the RSV positivity rate currently higher than last year's peak, professionals comment that it's possible that the pandemic played a role in weakening immunization to other viruses. Dr. Stephen Lipshultz, the chair of the Department of Pediatrics at the University at Buffalo's Jacobs School of Medicine, also says that this does not necessarily determine how sick a child is. “Somebody might just have a sniffle," he said. "Somebody might need to be on a ventilator. And you can have everything in between." For the most part, these viruses subside naturally in 7-10 days.For more information, visit Spectrum Local News.
- National Fuel weatherization kits are being offered for free at libraries across the county. The kits include window insulation shrink film, a heat and air deflector, vinyl foam weatherseal, and electric outlet sealers, all designed to help safe Western New Yorkers money on heating this winter. - Jarod Dillman, a 26-year-old man, has been sentenced on for animal cruelty after repeatedly harming a dog while working at a dog daycare business. Concurrent to his animal cruelty probation, Dillman has also received a three years probation sentence for a separate incident of petit larceny. Read WIVB 4 to learn more.
