Here are the top stories in Buffalo today:

1. With the high-profile governor election and midterms approaching, the request for absentee ballots has risen and high voter turnout is expected. Early voting begins this Saturday at 38 voting sites in Erie County. Learn more at The Buffalo News.
2. The teenage victims of the 198 car crash early this weekend have been identified and family members are speaking out. Amanda Maxwell, mother of one of the victims, says they had tried getting parenting help but now it is too late. Maxwell says,“It shouldn’t take death, it shouldn’t take jail, it shouldn’t take murder for them to step in...There needs to be more resources, more aid, to help the minorities and our kids.”Read more at WIVB 4. 3. As DL&W Terminal work finishes, the Metro Rail will run as a single track for the next three weeks. This change only affects a portion of downtown. This should be the last major interruption to the Metro Rail service. Additionally, the NFTA's Canalside Metro Rail Station should be completed by March 2023. 4. This past Wednesday, community members and urban designers gathered in Eugene V. Debbs Hall Social Club to discuss their desire for the Kensington Expressway to be restored. A long time Humboldt Parkway resident, Terrance Robinson, thought back to his own childhood when discussing restoration, saying "You know, when I was a kid, every five blocks was a butcher, baker, candlestick maker. You know, corner bar, hardware store." Some leaders are suggesting rebuilding the park to boost economic growth on the expressway, but the plan only addresses a section of the neighborhood which has created many skeptics. 5. The Buffalo Police are currently searching for a missing sixteen year old girl. The girl, Breanna Wiggins, was last seen wearing a pastel pink sweat suit that read "LOVE" on the front and a black coat with fur on the hood. For more information, watch WGRZ 2.
