Here are the top stories in Buffalo today:

1. Erie County has taken to step ensure safety at the polling places this election day. One of these measures is that no one can campaign within 100 feet of a polling place, which should lessen threats of violence. Another is having inspectors of each major party present at each polling place, and greeters to keep an eye on things at particularly large locations. Learn more at WKBW 7.
2. Top races for Buffalo are the elections for NYS Governor, the 26th Congressional District for the U.S. House of Representatives and the 61st District for New York State Senate. The 23rd and 24th Congressional Districts are also ones to watch for Western New York, specifically if you live outside the city. The statewide Clean Water, Clean Air, and Green Jobs Environmental Bond Act of 2022 proposal will also be on the ballot today. For more election information, visit WIVB 4.
3. According to the Erie County Board of Elections final report, 70,077 people participated in early voting. Erie County Board of Elections releases final report on early voting. As pointed out in the prior WIVB article, this is about 14% of registered voters. Early voting occurred between October 29th and November 6th. People can vote between 6 A.M. and 9 P.M. today. 4. In the early morning hours, Buffalo saw a total lunar eclipse with a "Blood Moon" today. The moon appeared red between 4:09 A.M. and 6:04 A.M., hence the phenomenon being called "Blood Moon." This was the last total lunar eclipse until March 2025. Learn more at WGRZ.
5. After being fired last summer, Victoria Conklin has won her unemployment case against Starbucks. Conklin, a union leader, was fired for being thirty minutes late to a shift after five years with the company. She will have a reinstatement case at the beginning of December.
