Here are the top stories today in Buffalo:

  1. Due to a shrinking workforce, the Buffalo-Niagara unemployment rate fell 2.7% during October to its modern-day low. The region's workforce has shrunk almost 2% since pre-pandemic calculations in October 2019. Learn more at The Buffalo News.
  2. Local roofs and businesses have collapsed under the snow, specifically in the village of Hamburg. Draudt's, a century old businesses, as well as regionally iconic Braymiller's Lane have both caved in under the weight of the snow. To read more, visit WIVB 4.
  3. The Albright Knox Art Gallery is reopening in May as The Buffalo AKG Art Museum. Governor Kathy Hochul comments, "This project will add new life and vitality to this historic and great institution, and is a continuation of the ongoing revitalization of Western New York." Read more at Spectrum Local News.
  4. Last Thursday, Michael H. Kooshoian was sworn in as the representative of the Erie County Legislature's 3rd District. Kooshian says, “...this district has been home to me my entire life, from growing up in north Buffalo, to raising my own family in the Town of Tonawanda. I am honored to have the opportunity to represent my hometown district and neighbors in the county legislature, and grateful to my fellow committee members for placing their trust in me.” For more information, visit Niagara Frontier Publications.
  5. Western New Yorkers have faced plow scammers during the storm. Many people in the worst-hit neighborhoods had to take to community groups and Facebook for help getting their cars out of the snow.
