  1. Zeneta Everhart, mother of 20-year-old Zaire Goodman who was shot during the May 14th Massacre, has been endorsed by the Democratic party for Buffalo Common Council seat in the Masten District. She received the endorsement instead of India Walton, who had announced her candidacy earlier this year. Both will be on the ballot during the primaries. (WGRZ 2)
  2. This weekend, a 5k walk at Delaware Park raised thousands of dollars for Compass House of Buffalo. Compass House, which is a youth homeless shelter, will spend the $14,000 raised on the shelter's resource center, transitional housing and a rapid re-housing program. (WIVB 4)
  3. The newest addition to the list of strange winter events Buffalo has seen this season, last week's ice storm still coats the city. The thickness of the ice as well as extreme temperatures rendered salt less effective than usual. By this afternoon, the snow should turn to rain and the ice should continue to melt. 4. Buffalo is one of many cities now participating in conservation campaign"No Mow May." North Council Member Joseph Golombek Jr. explains why people should participate, saying"Studies show that lawns that participate in No Mow May have three to five more pollinators that lawns that do not...By supporting this initiative, Buffalo Common Council hopes to raise awareness about the importance of pollinators and promote environmental conservation efforts." (The Buffalo News)
  5. The SPCA gave out free vaccines for Western New York cats this weekend. They will be doing another free vaccine clinic on March 18th. (WIVB 4)
