  1. Western New York election results are in. Melissa Hartman, Eden Town Supervisor, won for Erie County Clerk. She ran as a Democrat despite a lifelong Republican identification. Additionally, Gary A. Wilson Jr. reflects on the honor of being elected as the first LGBTQ+ City Court Judge, saying "I stand on the shoulders of the LGBTQ community. I stand on the shoulders of the African American community and I'm going to continue to serve this community with integrity, honesty and fairness." Read more about elections at The Buffalo News.
  2. Patricia Caruana has added the retired Buffalo teacher Mary Boblak to her case against the Buffalo School System for child sexual abuse. The accusation says the abuse began in 1971, when the plaintiff was only 11 years old. Caruana first notified the school system of the abuse in the 1993-94 school year, which resulted only in Boblak being offered early retirement with full benefits. For more information, read WIVB 4.
  3. Workers at the Lexington Co-op have partnered with the same union that helped Buffalo Spot and Starbuck locations unionize. Management was informed yesterday afternoon that organizing had begun at both the Elmwood and Hertel locations. In a media statement, management said, "Democratic participation and education are core values of the Lexington Co-op, and co-ops everywhere. We believe that all staff should have an opportunity to decide whether they want to unionize as well as be informed with pertinent and accurate information to do so." Learn more via The Buffalo News.
  4. A 47-year-old stabbing victim has died in Erie County Medical Center, upgrading charges from first degree assault to second degree murder. The September stabbing occurred in Niagara Falls between two local residents. The victim remained in ECMC until he passed away earlier this week. The suspect, Al Villane, has been in custody since the incident. Learn more at WKBW 7
