Here are the top three stories in Buffalo today:
- The Buffalo Common Council has voted in favor of a new district map. Every 10 years, the map gets re-drawn to better reflect the city’s population. The Common Council also met last week to discuss the public input, legal consideration, and demographical data related to the map. During the vote, some residents stood and yelled out their complaints about the map, such as it doesn’t represent population changes and splits communities. (WIVB.com - News 4)
- 18-year-old Jalia Marrero was found dead in a wooded area in North Buffalo on Jun. 6. Her family said they have not received updates from law enforcement for a month. Her disappearance occurred on May 9, shortly after she witnessed her ex-boyfriend killing her father on May 4. Marrero's family suspects she was killed by the same man, but police have not released a cause of death. (WKBW 7 News Buffalo)
- Two individuals have been shot in a Delaware Avenue apartment complex. The shooting occurred near Great Arrow Avenue around 9:00 p.m. Monday. Both victims were taken to the hospital without life-threatening injuries. Anyone with information is encouraged to call or text the confidential tip line at (716) 847-2255. (WIVB.com - News 4)
