Here are the top three stories in Buffalo today:
- As opioid statics in the area continue to rise, Buffalo community members are concerned over its addiction clinic. An opioid treatment center being constructed in Buffalo's University District has many worried about the safety of the surrounding area. Critics of the location see the need for such a center, however, worry about its impact on the neighborhood and how quickly this decision was made. (Spectrum News)
- Buffalo is welcoming 43 new firefighters to its Fire Department. After 20 weeks of fire academy training, The Buffalo Fire Department held a graduation ceremony on Thursday for these candidates. Buffalo currently has 737 active firefighters and that number could grow. (WGRZ.com)
- Buffalo's soon-to-be-constructed African American Veterans Monument received $50,000 in donations recently. The Carl and Carol Montante Charitable Fund made the donation which will be used for the long-term maintenance of the monument and surrounding property. The monument will be built at the Buffalo and Erie County Naval & Military Park and is scheduled to be completed in September 2022. (WGRZ.com)
