Here are the top stories in Buffalo today:
- A human rights protest was held in Niagara Square this past Saturday in response to the Iranian government. The protest, like many happening around the world currently, was triggered by the death of a 22-year-old woman in Iran who was in violation of Iran's “morality practice,” or dress code. - The Buffalo History Museum and the Buffalo & Erie County Public Library are seeking community input on a memorial to preserve the experiences, mementos, and oral histories related to the May 14th shooting. There will be an in-person information session at the Frank E. Merriweather Jr. Library at 6 P.M. on Tuesday, October 11th and a succeeding virtual one at 6 P.M. on Wednesday, October 12th. - An eight-unit apartment building set on fire Sunday morning in Getzville. Four fire departments responded to the large fire. Damage is estimated to be at $500,000 and the cause remains under investigation. More details available at WIVB 4.
- Niagara Street restaurant, Strong Hearts, depicts Buffalo pride in design and has a delicious menu of vegan options. - Buffalo’s Italian Cultural Center has received a $100,000 state grant. The grant, which was announced by State Senator Sean Ryan, is for renovations. The Italian Cultural Center is located in the former North Park Library on Hertel Ave. Learn more at WGRZ 2.
